Avin Thattasseri

AVIN’s [Avirachan Thattasseri 1934-2014] first published work is ‘Upaasika’, a fiction in Malayalam, which is an independent thinking on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and how his disciples, including Mary of Magdalene, resurrected into life and actionafter Jesus’s martyrdom. Basically a painter and a sculptor.his sculptures include statue of Sahodaran Ayyappanat Ekm, statue of T.M.Varghese at Tvm, a bust of Kelappaji at Kozhikode, Statue of Gandhiji at Kacheripady Ekm, a bust of Swathi Tirunal at Fine Arts Hall, Ekm, to cite a few. Most of the works are in bronze including that of Kumaranaasan at Kayikkara, Kollam. His many works are there in private collections which include a large number of oil paintings too. A graduate from Fine Arts college, Madras, Avin Thattaseri was a maverick and a lone path finder in his profession.
